Going spotty!

UK schools have a yearly 'Children in Need' day.  The schools try various ways of raising money to be donated to charities.  One of the most popular is dressing up in spotty clothing, with spots on their faces as well.  I don't totally see the connection between the spots and children in need, but it is a tradition here apparently.  Each child pays £1 for the privilege of dressing out of uniform.  The local primary schools also organized an event where teams could get sponsors and race around to the other schools, collecting 'spots.'  The PTA raffled off a specially decorated Pudsey Bear cake.  Pudsey is the mascot for Children in Need Day.  We also had a bake sale and all of the profits from each activity went to the 'Children in Need' charity.
Of course, my girls went spotty!  They searched through their wardrobes and got out every item of clothing with spots on it!  Then, we went through my make-up and found some dark coloured lipsticks and eyeliners that could be used to draw spots on their faces.  However, Sophia's class does swimming on Friday mornings, so she was not allowed to have spots on her face.  She was able to bring a make-up stick and draw some on afterwards though (with help from her teacher).  Overall, they had a lot of fun and the school raised some money for less fortunate children (though I'm still trying to figure out why having spots means you are in need- maybe in need of some calamine lotion?)
