Lakenheath Fen and pumpkin patch!

I think their shirts aptly tell the season!

As members of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (not for the Prevention of Birds, as I have mistakenly said, that would be a COMPLETELY different group!), we received information about an event at Lakenheath Fen. We went for a family outing and had fun exploring. They gave us fact sheets about different kinds of birds and we followed the signs around, learning about what different birds eat and how to help them survive throughout the winter.

In case you're unfamiliar with the word, fen means marshy, flatland.

Afterwards, we stopped by a local pumpkin patch to get a few pumpkins and have a snack.  Of course, the girls wanted to get their faces painted as well.
Sophia wanted a Bronco to go with her jersey...luckily the British woman knew a tiny bit about American football, and used Sophia's jersey for the rest of her inspiration!

Tessa chose a beautiful, sparkly butterfly.  Unfortunately, hers only lasted 10 minutes before she was crying about some random thing and wiped it all away!  Face painting is NOT worth the money on a girl that cries so easily!

Sophia, the Bronco girl

Tessa really wanted to carry her own pumpkin, but they were all so heavy!

Sophia was strong enough!

Sophia watched football with her Daddy that night...for a few minutes anyway!
